Can I have a Affirm treatment if I have dark skin? |

Age Spot and Pigment Removal
What happens to the pigment? |
The laser light is absorbed by oxyhemoglobin (bright red blood cells carrying oxygen) and melanin/pigment (black or brown pigment found in the skin) causing decomposition or destruction of unwanted cells. The pigmented area flakes away leaving healthy pigment free skin. |
Is there any down time? |
The treated area will get a little darker before flaking away but no, there is no downtime associated with laser pigment removal. |

Botox®
What is Botox®? |
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, nonsurgical, treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe forehead lines, lines around the eyes and crow’s feet. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. One 10-minute treatment (a few tiny injections) and within days there's a noticeable improvement in moderate to severe facial lines. |
Can I still smile or make facial expressions if I have Botox®? |
This is not only a common question but a common misconception. Botox Cosmetic® works by relaxing the muscle by inhibiting the neurotransmitter needed for muscle contraction. This effect is very specific and temporary. The goal of Botox injections is to relax the particular facial muscles that cause fine lines, wrinkles, and creases. Eternolei believes in achieving a natural look by leaving some muscle function. It is maintained for animation and expression while minimizing the strong contractions of the muscles that lead to unwanted facial lines. |
How long does it last? |
Results can last from 4 to 6 months, and may vary. |
Who can get Botox? |
It is suitable for most people apart from those who are pregnant or breast feeding. Men and women, soccer moms to lawyers. |
How long until I see results? |
It starts to work in about 3-5 days. The greatest effect is seen after about 14 days. |

Chemical Peels
What will a chemical peel do for me? |
A chemical peel is a facial peel designed to improve the overall texture and appearance of the skin. Peels alow us to treat sundamage, active acne, and decrease pore size. Chemical peel concentrations vary and are selected by the treatment professional based on the skin condition and the problems you want to focus on. |
How long should I expect to be in office? |
Each peel takes approximately 20-30 mins. |
Should people who are frequently in the sun receive peels? |
People who are sun worshipers should consider whether this procedure is right for them. 80% of aging is due to the sun. Therefore, we recommend avoiding sun exposure completely. If you are someone who loves the sun you may have this treatment but must discontinue exposure for the course of the treatments. |
How many peels will I need? |
One chemical peel will not allow for good correction. Therefore, peels are sold in a package of 6, and each treatment is preformed 2 weeks apart. This provides for maximum results. |

Dermal Fillers(Radiesse/Juvederm)
What is a dermal filler? |
Dermal fillers are substances that are injected just below the surface of the skin to fill in lines, wrinkles, and scars. Unlike face lifts that stretch the skin, fillers add volume for a more natural youthful appearance. |
Does it hurt? |
The treatment is performed by injecting the filler under your skin. Since no pre-test is needed, your procedure can usually be done in less than one hour. Many patients like the added comfort provided with an anesthetic cream, while others prefer an anesthetic block. This makes the treatment relatively painless. |
Where can you put a dermal filler? |
Fillers can increase the fullness of the lips and lessen the downward slant of the corners of the mouth. They can also be injected into the Nasolabial folds (the lines from the nose to the corner of the mouth) and Oral commisures (from the corner of the mouth downward). Other common areas include smokers lines, lips and cheek enhancement. |
Will there be bruising or swelling? (down time) |
The treatment site may have some which can last from a few hours to serval days. There may also become slight bruising which can generally be covered with make-up. Patients tend to vary when it comes to the amount of swelling and bruising after the procedure. |
What is the difference between Radiesse and Juvederm Injectable filler? |
Radiesse is made of a synthetic substance containing microspheres of calcium hydroxylapetite. There are no allergic reactions associated with this filler. With proper technique and local anesthesia, the injections are not very painful. One of the advantages of Radiesse is that it can last up to 2 years. Radiesse is a large molecule filler so it tends to work the best in the midface (cheeks) and oral commisures (lines from the corner of the mouth downward). Radiesse is contraindicated in the lips.
Juvéderm® is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Juvederm is a small molecule filler which makes it ideal for the fine to deeper lines around lips, Nasolabial folds and the chin area. Juvederm is an excellent candidate for the lips because, once injected it feels and looks extremely natural. |

Fraxel Re: pair CO2
What is the difference between the Re: pair and the traditional Fraxel treatment? |
The typical Fraxel is a non ablative laser, whereas the Re: pair CO2 is an ablative procedure.
The original Fraxel procedure is a multiple session laser designed to correct sun damage, minimize acne scars and overall texture issues. With 4 to 5 sessions your skin is visably smoother, more color balanced and more evenly textured.
With Re: pair carbon dioxide laser (CO2) you not only get the benefits of the traditional Fraxel treatment, you also get what we like to call a “laser face lift”. The tightening and correcting of lines and wrinkles is what makes the Re: pair CO2 so special. This procedure also is unique, in that all this can be accomplished with typically one treatment. |
What is the down time? |
Because the Re:pair is an ablative laser, the downtime is much more significant compared to the original Fraxel. Most people are off work for at least 7 days, and redness can last up to 3 months after the procedure. However, the redness is manageable, most people are able to cover the redness with makeup and continue with everyday activities. |
Who should have the Re: pair CO2 treatment? |
Typically, anyone in good health, without major disease processes, can be treated with this laser. Diabetes and patients with autoimmune disorders are required to have a more in depth health exam in order to determine whether they can be treated. Patients who are taking sun sensitive medications cannot be treated without discontinuing the medication. |
How long will the results last? |
Because the laser is so new, we unfortunately do not have long term follow ups yet. However, we do have patients 3 years out whose results still look amazing. Results tend to be based on your lifestyle. Smoking, alcohol and sunbathing can speed up the aging process, making your results not last as long. |

Laser hair Removal
Who can have laser hair removal? |
Anyone can have laser hair removal. Settings are changed for each individual patient, depending on your skin type. Dark corse hair is the easiest to treat and tends to have the greatest result. Light and grey hair cannot be treated with this laser. |
Why are multiple treatments required? |
All hair is in one of three stages of growth at any given time; anagen, catagen or telogen. A hair's active growth phase is called the anagen phase. During the anagen phase, the hair contains an abundance of melanin. The catagen phase is the regression phase when the lower part of the hair stops growing but has not shed, and the follicle is reabsorbed. The resting phase is called the telogen phase, during which the old hair falls out in preparation for the development of new hair. Studies have shown that laser hair reduction treatments are most effective when hair is in the active or anagen phase. It is during this phase when melanin, the target of the laser light, is most abundant. Based on this, your treatment professional will discuss how far apart to schedule your treatments. Depending on the area being treated, your appointment could be once every 4, 6, or 8 weeks. |
Is it permanent? |
The hair follicle that is dead will not grow back. Generally, this is anywhere from 70 to 100% of the hair present. However, you may still have new hair growth in other spots after the treatment is complete. |
Does it hurt? |
Some people may feel a slight pinching sensation or a feeling like a pop of a small rubber band upon your skin. However, most patients tolerate the procedure very well. |

PCA Skin Care
What is PCA Skin Care? |
PCA skin care is a "Medical Grade" skin care line. PCA SKIN’s medical grade products incorporate the latest in medically and scientifically researched ingredients to nourish, hydrate and rejuvenate skin, delivering optimal results. Free of color additives, synthetic fragrances, harsh alcohols, comedogenic oils and other known sensitizers, they are designed to deliver results without irritation and are especially effective for helping to treat such varied skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, hyperpigmentation, rosacea and fine lines and wrinkles. PCA SKIN products are available only through physicians and licensed medical professionals. |
Why should I choose a "Medical Grade" skin care over regular soap? |
Skin on the face is more delicate than skin on the body. While soap is suitable to cleanse skin on the body it is far too drying for sensitive facial skin. The over-drying effect of soap can result in premature wrinkling and an over production of oil. PCA Facial Wash & Facial Wash for Oily/Problem Skin are pH balanced cleansers that will not only gently cleanse but also free skin from cell debris resulting in a more vibrant appearance. |
But is PCA expensive? |
No, PCA products are very much affordable. Our moisturizers range in price from $28-$36 dollars. |
My skin is very oily, can I use a PCA moisturizer? |
Yes. Everyone, no matter how oily their skin, needs a daytime (with SPF) and nighttime moisturizer. Healthy skin requires a delicate balance of both water and oil. Even if your skin produces excess oil you still need to replenish the water in the skin and keep it hydrated. A deficiency of water will typically lead to an overproduction of oil which would worsen your condition. Choose a daytime SPF product designed for oily skin, such as our Protecting Hydrator SPF 25, as well as a non-oily or oil free nighttime moisturizer, such as Clearskin, for best results. |
I have dry skin, what moisturizer should I choose? |
We have a number of different moisturizer depending on if what you are trying to acheive with you skin. Call us anytime and we can help you choose the products that are right for you! |

Vein Removal
What happens to the vein? |
Lasers are machines that produce a beam of light that has a specific biological target. Some lasers target blood vessels and are absorbed by these. The laser light is then absorbed by hemoglobin, a substance in the blood that gives it a red or purple color. This heats up the blood vessel enough for the vessel to be heat sealed or damaged. Over time the body reabsorbs these damaged vessels. |
Does it hurt? |
Everyone’s pain tolerance is different. At Eternolei we use a “cooler” during the procedure that blows cold air on the area being treated causing a numbing effect. Most people state that with the cooler, the procedure is tolerable. |
